Test Requirements
Every applicant is required to provide a current GMAT or GRE score as part of their application.
Additionally, those applicants whose undergraduate education involved instruction in a language other than English (excluding foreign language courses) must take an English language proficiency examination unless they have completed a graduate program conducted entirely in English.
GMAT & GRE
Admission mandates the submission of either the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). There is no preference for one test over the other.
English Language Skills
Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) accepts the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), the PTE (Pearson Test of English Academic), or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
Online Admissions Tests
We accept scores from the official online versions of the GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS exams. We do not currently accept the online version of the PTE exam. We understand that online exams may not be available in all regions or to all populations. We will accept your score until it expires: online GMAT and GRE scores are valid for five years from the test date, and online TOEFL and IELTS Indicator scores are valid for two years.
